On Friday, October 26, OPA honored its
members who have made significant contributions to the profession.

Carol Johnson, PhD, received the Past President’s
Plaque for her presidential leadership during the 2005-06 membership year.
Mary Miller Lewis, PhD, was awarded the Certificate
of Appreciation for her work as Public Interest Committee Chair. Dr. Miller
Lewis has initiated many mental health projects in this role.

Catherine Golden, MS, was named the Outstanding
Graduate Student for her leadership in OPAGS and at Ohio University.

WCPO Cincinnati, Channel 9, received an Achievement
Award for Public Interest for reporting on the Anthem Insurance cuts for
psychologists.

Theresa Lengerich, PsyD, was awarded the
Achievement Award for Public Interest for alerting the media about the
psychological cuts from Anthem.

Denise Brenner, director of operations and member
services, was given the Special Projects Award for her work on the first
printed OPA membership directory in 10 years.

Michael Ranney, MPA, received the President’s
Award for his help and guidance to OPA Past President David Hayes.

The Ethics Committee was named the Outstanding
Committee of the Year.

James Werth, PhD, was given the Outstanding
Psychologist Award for his career at the University of Akron and leadership
within OPA.

Elizabeth Swenson, PhD, JD, was awarded the
Distinguished Contribution to the Profession of Psychology for her work with
APA and OPA.
Nabil El-Ghoroury, PhD, received
the Achievement in Public Interest for speaking to reporters in Spanish
after the Virginia Tech shootings.
