Advertising
OPA members receive FREE online classified advertising (on the OPA website for 30 days) and a 20% discount on print copy advertising. Whether placing a classified advertisement for Office Space, or a display advertisement for your services, OPA members benefit from this service. More information regarding advertising can be found in the Advertising section of the website.

Advocacy
OPA has expanded its advocacy efforts to get your opinions heard. The nationally recognized Project FAIR and the creation of its professional affairs department are leading psychologists to the front of the line when it comes to creating a unified voice. OPA memberships on coalitions and the work of its executive director, the Political Action Committee and members are creating a solid foundation for psychology in Ohio. OPA is making its voice heard at the statehouse and with managed care companies.  Please check the Advocacy section of the website for more information.

Continuing Education
The Ohio Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. Currently, OPA offers the OPA Annual Convention in the Columbus area during the fall, and numerous One-Day Workshops that travel to various parts of Ohio throughout the year. OPA members receive significant discounts on the registration fees for these events. All OPA members also receive a discount coupon to an OPA Continuing Education event of their choice with their paid membership. Please visit the Events section of the website for more information.

Email Lists
OPA provides a members-only electronic mailing as an added benefit to those of you who wish to network with colleagues on a continual basis. By providing us with your email address, you are automatically connected to the list. This mechanism provides an on-going forum for discussion on topics that are important to you such as managed care, treatment and referral inquiries, and other professional concerns. OPA currently offers eight different lists from which to choose. Members may register online through the Members Only page.

Ethics and Colleague Assistance Committee
OPA Ethics and Colleague Assistance Committee invites members to consult with the committee about ethics concerns. At times, simply talking with the closest committee member is all that's needed. At other times, the committee members will talk with each other before responding.

The Colleague Assistance Committee can also assist in finding appropriate treatment resources for members who are concerned that stress, substance use or other problems might have an effect on their professional functioning.

Members can access the Ethics and Colleague Assistance Committee list through the Members Only section of the website.

Library
Becoming a member of the OPA Library allows you to have a world of information for the small fee of $40.00 per membership year. As a subscriber to OPA's lending library of current books, pamphlets, videos, and audio tapes, you are entitled to receive up to four items at a time (only one video tape at a time may be borrowed), for up to three weeks. The library collection is updated periodically to ensure that its holdings include the most current and popular topics in psychology. OPA Library holdings can be viewed in the Members Only section of the website.

Publications
The Ohio Psychologist
A national leader for the state psychological journals, The Ohio Psychologist, our scholarly journal, is filled with news about state-wide and national issues that affect psychologists and consumers. Up-to-date continuing education offerings, advocacy initiatives, colleagues updates, and job listings are always included.

This site, in the Members Only section, includes featured articles from the previous issues of The Ohio Psychologist for your review.

The Ohio Psychologist Review
The Ohio Psychologist Review is designed to bring members up-to-date information, news, and events which impact their work. The Review is published three times a year, in March, July, and November.

The Ohio Psychologist Update
The Ohio Psychologist Update is OPA's newest publication. The Update is designed to inform members of relevant issues and provide up-to-date information in the months that The Ohio Psychologist and The Ohio Psychologist Review are not published. As with all of OPA's publications, past issues of The Update are available in the Members Only section of the website.

Mandatory Continuing Education
OPA members receive a significant discount on registration fees for the Office of Mandatory Continuing Education, and while non-OPA members are charged a $35.00 fee for each course reviewed by the OPA-MCE Committee, OPA members receive free and unlimited single course reviews. OPA members are also eligible to join the OPA-MCE registry program, which tracks a registrant's hours above and beyond Ohio's required amount of 23 hours per biennium. This service is helpful for psychologists who are licensed in other states and must obtain more than Ohio's required number of hours. For more information, please visit the MCE area.

Media Resource Guide
OPA frequently receives calls from students and the media requesting specialists in specific areas of psychology. The Media Resource Guide is a new, free service offered to OPA members in which subscribers can serve as professional contacts in their respective areas of specialization. The Media Resource Guide will help to advocate positive publicity for the field of psychology through knowledgeable and experienced sources. Please visit the Media Resource Guide page for more information.

Online Psychologist Referral Program
The OPA Central Office receives a minimum of 10 telephone referral requests per day and the online referral page receives approximately 600 views per month. The online program provides a convenient and anonymous way for psychologists, lawyers, consumers, etc. to search for psychological assistance at any time of day.  Members licensed less than five years join at half-price.  Click here to access the Online Referral Program.

OPA is making every effort to make this initiative a win-win for practitioners and the general public. We need participants to give consumers more options. The more choices consumers have, the more they will use OPA's referral program. The more they use OPA's referral program the greater the benefit to psychologists. Help the program realize its fullest potential to meet the needs of ALL consumers in Ohio. SIGN-UP TODAY (OPA Members only).
