Bank One, a 2003 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award winner, was named one of 10 national best practices by the American Psychological Association. Bank One’s “recognize and refer” program, a collaboration between the bank and the Coalition Against Family Violence, trains bank managers to recognize and respond to instances of domestic abuse among employees of the confidential help and resources available to them for addressing this hidden, but growing problem in our society. Bank One’s program includes a video about domestic violence, information cards and work area posters.

Morale is up since the program’s inception. Employees realize that help is available for them. Almost 87 percent of employees say they would use the program’s services if faced with domestic violence. The results have been so encouraging there are plans to expand the program throughout Central Ohio.
