Member Benefit of the Month: June

OPA Committees

By: Joan Bowman, Director of Membership and Education

joanAre you interested in networking and professional development? Do you belong to an OPA Committee? The OPA Board of Directors is comprised of numerous volunteer committees, task forces and special interest groups which define the priorities of the organization and help bring ideas to fruition. We are always looking for new volunteers to participate.

Most OPA groups meet via teleconference, so no travel is required. Involvement can range from participating in quarterly conference calls, to composing articles to be published in OPA publications, to actively contributing in roundtables or workshops held at the OPA office or Annual Convention. Each committee/task force has a chairperson that attends quarterly Board meetings and reports back to the committee. The average commitment time is 2-3 hours per month.
