Standing Committees

Communications and TechnologyMarc B. Dielman, Ph.D., Chair
Monitors how technology affects the profession of psychology and all individuals touched by psychology. Oversees and develops all forms of association print publications and electronic media, including ohpsych.org and electronic e-mail lists.
DiversityWanda McEntyre, Ph.D., Chair
Integrates cultural sensitivity and a commitment to diversity throughout the organizational and membership structures of OPA, as well as the broader community of psychology in Ohio. Within the committee, the term “diversity” incorporates, but is not limited to, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, spirituality, disability, age, and/or gender differences.
Early CareerKathleen Hutchinson, Ph.D., Chair
Works to better understand the needs of ECPs in Ohio. They are currently working on developing resources on ECP relevant topics like how to get on insurance panels, financial planning, loan repayment and how to connect with your regional psychological association.
EducationJerome Gabis, Psy.D. & Kathleen Ashton, Ph.D., Co-Chairs
Works to represent the wide-ranging interests and needs of OPA members related to continuing education in psychology through planning, implementation and evaluation of OPA’s various forms of educational mediums.
EthicsRichard Ashbrook, Ph.D., & Elizabeth Swenson,Ph.D., J.D., Co-Chairs
Advances the knowledge and competency of OPA members regarding the ethical standards for psychologists, as well as educate psychologists regarding ethical principles and conduct.
InsuranceJim Broyles, Ph.D., Chair
Monitors the managed care industry as it relates to the profession of psychology, and address issues that psychologists have with insurers and managed care companies.
MembershipCathy Gaw, Psy.D. & Peg Richards Mosher, Ph.D., Co-Chairs
Recruits, engages and retains association members by monitoring the changing trends, wants and needs of the members of OPA.
Professional PracticeTom Swales, Ph.D., Chair
Monitors, interacts with, and makes recommendations to promote the practice of psychology as a profession in Ohio.
Public SectorLynne Rustad, Ph.D., Chair
Supports psychologists and clients of psychologists in settings such as state hospitals, the military, community mental health centers, VA medical centers and correctional settings.
ScienceMichael Dwyer, Ph.D., Chair
Maintains a close relationship between the practice and science of psychology for the mutual benefit of both, and encourage the development of science-minded students of psychology.
Committee on Social ResponsibilityMary Lewis, Ph.D., Chair
Promotes and coordinates the involvement of psychologists in programs and projects in the community, and advocates for the fair treatment of Ohio residents through education, training and public policy.
