Careers in Psychology

Careers in psychology are varied and exciting. Ohio has psychologists working in the state government as analysts and program planners, community mental health centers, prisons and juvenile detention facilities, schools, universities, the Veterans Administration, businesses, hospitals and private practice.

Psychology offers wonderful choices for graduate study and careers. As a behavioral science and practice, psychology is on the cutting edge of human biological, social and scientific discovery.

With training in psychology, one can be a scientist, researcher, teacher, clinician, administrator or all of the above. The American Psychological Association has prepared many helpful links and articles to explore. One helpful book about psychology careers is “Career Paths in Psychology” by Robert Sternberg.
