OPA Legislative Day
Psychologists for a Healthy & Productive Ohio

HealthFairOPA’s annual Legislative Day trains psychologists and graduate students about advocacy and forging relationships with legislators. Held at the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus, participants hear from guest speakers discussing public policy and psychology, attend legislative committee meetings in the historic Ohio Statehouse, and meet state senators and state representatives over lunch and in their offices. OPA also hosts a Mind/Body Health Fair with psychologists from around the state in conjunction with the day’s events.

Legislative Day is designed both for those with no advocacy experience as well as those who have participated many times. Newcomers learn how to use their positions as psychologists and constituents to make effective legislative visits. Members with prior experience delve into issues relevant to OPA and the practice of psychology, and talk about how to gain legislative support for these issues.
OLBC MeetingIn the morning, guest speakers discuss politics, public policy and psychology. During the afternoon session, participants have the opportunity to meet with their elected officials and legislative aides. Register for this year’s event.

The 2015 date will be announced soon! Please contact OPA Director of Professional Affairs Dr. Bobbie Celeste with questions.
