This workshop will focus on major ethical principles involving health care professionals. Topics covered will include: Benevolence and autonomy, Surrogacy, Allocation of Loyalties and Conflicts of ethical duty involving individuals, groups, institutions, professions, The chimerical relationship of ethics and law, Truthfulness, Cognition,capacity and competence, Concept of Honor in normative ethics and the Concept of emotional intelligence and ethics. These concepts will be illustrated in actual case materials which attendees are asked to review prior to the course. “Real-life” outcomes of the cases presented will be shared at the end of the discussion of each case.
Presenters: Jill Mushkat, Ph.D. and John P.Conomy, M.D., J.D., FRSM
Dr. Mushkat has been with the Cleveland Clinic Health System for the past 17 years and currently serves as Director of Pain Management Psychology for the Regional Hospitals. She serves on the CPA Board of Trustees as Ethics Chair. Dr. Conomy is the President of HealthSystems Design and CompEval Corporations, and a Professor of Clinical Neurology at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University.
