Fun With Ethics: Ethical Principles of Psychology in Real Life. Leaders: Kathleen Mack, Psy.D. and Debjani Sinha, Ph.D.Most psychologists have read and understand the ethical principles that provide the foundation for our professional conduct. However, applying these ethical principles to real life situations can often be challenging. In our everyday work, situations arise that can leave us uncertain, confused, or conflicted. This interactive workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss, in a roundtable format, ethical dilemmas commonly faced by practicing psychologists.
The participants in this workshop will discuss case vignettes in small groups. Some vignettes will be based on cases brought before the Ohio State Board of Psychology. Other vignettes will be drawn from dilemmas brought for consultation to members of the Ohio Psychological Association Ethics Committee. The vignettes will be a representative sample of the kinds of problems most likely to cause complaints to be filed with state licensing boards.
