Child care professionals share with parents the responsibility of keeping children safe, protected, and secure in an environment that nurtures healthy growth and development. Unlike parents, caregivers are recognized by the state as mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. The Keeping Children Safe curriculum was developed to strengthen the caregiver’s role in identifying, preventing, and where indicated, reporting child abuse and neglect.
