Presented by Drs. Marjorie Kukor & Valerie Cole at Maryhaven from 1-4 p.m. Despite what the Hollywood movies suggest, most people do not respond to disasters or other traumatic events by running down the street screaming. But what are the typical reactions to traumatic events? Which populations are more vulnerable? What risk factors make some people more vulnerable? What are typical reactions afterwards? These questions and others will be answered in this workshop. In addition, we will look at the current literature on response efforts and emerging interventions for supporting survivors of tragedy as well as relief workers. Treatment implications will also be addressed, but will not be the sole focus of the workshop. Attendees will earn 3 CE. Register online.
