This 3 CE course is ideal for direct service providers along all levels of care and guides the professional through the often-confusing legal system in the event a client has been arrested. This workshop examines terminology, the court process, criteria for competency to stand trial, criteria for not guilty by reason of insanity, and ways to support clients in their navigation of the forensic system.
Presenter: Becky Brittain, MSW. Ms. Brittain’s long career has included the creation of a nationally recognized jail program for the mentally ill and serving as Forensic Monitor for the Summit County ADM Board and Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence. She is recipient of the Forensic Leadership Award for Ohio.
