Why should you develop your educational material into an OPA homestudy webinar?
- Educate psychologists who can’t make it to our regular workshop.
- Help OPA develop long-distance learning alternatives.
- Add a line item to your CV.Make money!
What is a webinar?
A webinar is short for Web-based seminar. Webinars are just like OPA’s standalone workshops, except that participants hear your voice over the phone and watch your PowerPoint online. So you can give a webinar from the comfort of your own home! Webinars first can presented “live” at a certain time with participants, and then recorded for participants to download later. During the live version, participants can ask questions during the seminar.
These offerings increase the flexibility of continuing education (CE) and help meet the needs of psychologists who do not have access to traditional CE learning experiences. They also offer cost-efficient and easily accessible continuing professional education without sacrificing quality.
The Ohio Psychological Association maintains high standards in the design of home study materials to optimize quality educational materials for psychologists engaging in continuing professional education through this method of delivery.
Components of OPA Home study Webinars
Each OPA developed home study most contain the following components:
1. A formal proposal that contains questions about the program’s learning curriculum and learning objectives. It also requires a CV.
2. Questions (10 questions per credit hour) that are a mixture of multiple choice and true and false;
3. An answer key to help OPA grade tests and check for accuracy of questions.
Guidelines for hours of credit
The amount of credit hours is determined by how long the presenter speaks during the webinar and the amount of time it takes for the person to take the test. For webinars, we recommend 1-2 hour programs. We would additionally like to have a 3 hour ethics program.
