Psychologists Retired of Ohio (PROs)

Psychologists Retired of Ohio (PROs)

With the median age of an OPA member being 55, retirement issues are prevalent for OPA. With that in mind, OPA started the Psychologists Retired of Ohio (PROs). PROs was formed with the purpose of helping with retirement planning, keeping retirees active in OPA and educating members about when they should retire. This group meets periodically, and is open to anyone, retired or not, who have an interest in retirement issues.

Goals for the group include:
1) hosting a workshop at OPA Convention
2) compiling a retirement packet that will include
3) questions and answers about destroying records;
4) a patient/client summary sheet form;
5) information on how to sell/close a practice;
6) templates on how to notify patients/the public about closing a practice;
7) what to do about partnerships; and,
8) what to do about tests.

Each PROs meeting features a special guest speaker. Past speakers include:

• Rep. Ted Celeste: mental health legislation
• Dr. Cathy McDaniels Wilson: OPA goals, how OPA could help retiring psychologists
• Dr. Mary Lewis: memory and dementia, and the ways to prevent dementia.
• Ms. Lindsay Orchowski: psychologists portrayal in the media

The PROs also was featured in the July/August edition of the “National Psychologist.” Read the complete article here.
